View Full Version : New Warning System Details - Important

Ramprage
12-09-2003, 04:26 AM
A new warning system has been installed on the Ramprage.com forums. It is a point based system that keeps track of users negative activity on the message board. If you receive to many warnings you will be banned from the message board.

3 strikes and you're OUT
- Each user starts off with a warning level of 0
- If you don't respect the forum rules and start anything like spamming, racist remarks, etc you will be warned and PMed/emailed with the offence.
- Once your warning level reaches 3 you WILL be banned from the forums and won't have access.
- Admins/mods reserve the right to warn any members they feel disrespect the forums and other members

This community is for everyone to share, not just for those who think they are special. Act like a jerk and you'll be kicked, plain and simple.

Please follow the RULES posted - we are enforcing them now more than ever. I had some problem getting this new addon to the message board installed, you may have noticed the forums messed up - all should be working now.

Thank you for visiting Ramprage and help make our community forums a better place for everyone.

Cheers,

Steve

No you don't... Your level is at 0.

WAY TO GO STEVE!!! LET'S GET WARNING AND BANNING!! Hey Steve, am I allowed to warn you and eventually get you banned? That would be rich.

Mrock
12-09-2003, 04:57 PM
Then I could warn you and ban you. The circle never ends..

But seriously craig- you know I have nothing against you. We're just going to finally be able to do something instead of sit back and watch people abuse the forums.

i think this whole warning this is F-U-...D-G-E-Ing retarded. the stuff people write here sint anything you dont hear in school or on tv or in music, stop trying to wrap yourself in a protective bubble, the world is ugly and disgusting live with it instead of shielding yourself from it.

Well there's one from me people.. I think that comes under 'Disrespect for Forum Leaders', ' Insobordination ' for not agreeing with a term that has been passed under alot of judgement to make clear to members, which took alot of time to make! may I add.

.. Sorry bud thats 1 warn you have.

Ramprage
12-10-2003, 08:54 PM
protective bubble? no, it's called being respectful.

people like you give skaters a bad rep oldscoolelement. I don't care what you hear on tv, in your backyard or in your own dreamworld, the rules here are simple.

If you dont' like the rules then don't come on the forum, simple as that.
I'm not going to sit here and argue my rules with you, some people have better things to do ;)

er, can it be reversed?

I'd like to express my views on this topic. I don't really mean anything by this but its already happening. The Mods are being turned into god status, oldschoolelement got a warning for airing his views. He didn't cause any offence, no racism, no nothing but bam a warning. We all make mistakes, and three in a row your out. Its a good idea, but it should firstly be established how bad the offence needs to be to get a warning. Racism is an example, yup thats worthy of a warning but i wouldn't go as far as what happen to O.S.E just now. but hey what am i talking about, i don't make the rules so i gotta live with them. I'll stand by what i say, issue a better system of warnings or members will be gone fast, mods will want to try out this new 'power' and it will be over used, look back through history its all there kinda like communism, a dream idea not fought out, but not as complex.

So two strikes left for me I supose, well it was worth it, trying to get RR a better place

Ramprage

Warnings can be reversed if we see fit. Oldschoolelement was a bit to disrespectful on that last post sorry. I encourage you guys to share and voice you opinons but do it in a reasonable manner instead of posting things like ...... that really doesn't help much.

"i think this whole warning this is F-U-...D-G-E-Ing retarded. the stuff people write here sint anything you dont hear in school or on tv or in music, stop trying to wrap yourself in a protective bubble, the world is ugly and disgusting live with it instead of shielding yourself from it."

Well, let's see, don't be an ass on a regular basis, and you won't be warned. I have been on RR for a very long time, and I have never once been warned. And it's not like I'm an angel or anything, I've been known to be a real damn ass at times. But only when invoked, not because I think I have the right to take out anger on bystanders, or because "I feel like it."

My friend, you truely do not understand. The mods rarely abuse their powers. If we used the warning system and our own powers to the fullest extent 3/4ths of you would be gone, but the thing is, your still here, aren't you? You all have been 'still here' for months. Aside from Ramprage, Mike and I also have banning powers, which we have only used in the worst circumstances. While a lot of you made these forums turn to crap, we still reserved the banning power for only the most extreme cases. If we played it exactly by the rules I would've banned most of you by now. Now it is even more fair because we're not supposed to use them and use the warning system, which gives you three strikes. If I remember correctly, and I'm assuming I am because I spent quite some time typing them, members get three strikes anyways and then are banned. All this warning system truely does is keeps track of the warnings and bans automatically so no one has to ask Ramprage (as we used to).

And we are being turned into these 'god' like figures? Well, what do you think the title moderator means? Not some name that we just carry around while you all run amuk. Back in the day when Ramprage forums were nice and stable, members were respectful to the mods, for the reason that they maintained the peace and clarity around here. Trust me, I used to too before I was one. And if in your way of thinking, yes we are above you. No, I'm not saying that just because I am a moderator it makes me a better human being than you, but it does mean I have more athourity than you do and you should respect that. This is not the United States, it is a message board, and not to be an ass by saying it but not everyone is equal in 'rights' and 'freedom' on here. Some have more, some don't, that's how it goes. If you don't like that, then your free to leave these boards. Cheers :D

I like it, I seams useful. Good call, Steve.

Mrock
12-11-2003, 03:48 AM
It's not like it will be abused. If people abused their membership (and PLENTY have!)..it will be used. For example, a while ago, all mods got a bunch of "reported posts" of posts that had nothing wrong with them. I believe the "reason for reporting this post" was a bunch of nasty comments. That'd get a warning from me..

If someone disagree's with me, that's fine. Most of you know I have NO problem arguing online, but again, only if I'm provoked, or I see someone telling a one-sided story. No one is saying you can't express your opinions..just not in an inappropriete way. Just like the judicial system...you can't just walk in and shove your view down everyones throat, there's proper channels, and ways to get things done. You just have to do it in a respectful manner towards everyone here. For some people on here, that may be very difficult.

I loved that post, because it didn't let the whole human rights thing get in the way of the truth: being a mod makes you better than others. Which, if you think about it, it does.

Back in the day when Ramprage forums were nice and stable, members were respectful to the mods, for the reason that they maintained the peace and clarity around here. Trust me, I used to too before I was one.
I totally agree with you. Respect is a two way street. I know, because "I used to too", and still do, as far as I know. If I disrespect any of you, I expect you to shove it in my face. And, as I've never once been chewed out by you guys, I assume I'm being my normal helpful self.

mbtimestwo
12-11-2003, 04:33 AM
Don't provoke, its disrespectful.

Or you can do it periodically somewhat like Mrock, to prove a point? Or is he just being hypocritical. Calling people ignorant without basis on other posts, could be considered provoking? Or is Mrock possibly jumping to conclusions?

Mrock
12-11-2003, 04:31 PM
If you're referring to the other thread, then let's go ahead and get this out of the way.

I believe people judging me because of one mistake is definently provoking. Maybe you are a better person than me, and can excercise more self-restraint. If that's the case, then I'm happy for you..

I have made enemies on these boards, spoke to them through AOL and whatnot, and soon become friends, simply because we were able to speak our views, and finally understood what the others were saying. I don't have a reputation of being unfair whatsoever. Ask any member...

If you still want to take personal shots at me, then just let it go. I went ahead and deleted the other thread, so that you can rest well. I don't want to fight, nor make enemies, but you seem like you're really trying. I believe you bringing this up in another thread IS provoking. I'm letting it go now...I would hope you do the same.

Edit: Also..as far as "mods being better"..I completely disagree. Technically, moderators have a more prestigious status on the board, but that is it. It's not like it's supposed to CREATE respect because of the position. If I don't like someone, no matter what their position is, I won't respect them.

mbtimestwo
12-11-2003, 06:17 PM
Mrock,

This is not a complete rebuttal, simply a discussion.
Yes I was referring to the other thread, I don't understand why you would delete it, even if I rested well. Again as I said before, I was explaining my own experiences and downfalls in life, telling by experience, not being critical to you. It seems like there is no way around you being defensive toward my posts. You are even going as far as thinking I am taking shots at you, I suppose you will take this defensively as well. What I am doing is questioning your methods/values, although I totally appreciate your candor.

I simply read a few of your posts and found contradictions. This will probably make the delete list as well, but in all respect, I am not taking any harsh tones with you. Please, without being defensive read this aloud to yourself. "If I don't like someone, no matter what their position is, I won't respect them" Just say it out loud to yourself and let me know what you think. This was not written in any angst toward Mrock, nor was it meant to be a shot against him.

Mrock
12-11-2003, 07:07 PM
I knew you would bring it up, and yet I posted it. Why? Because it's true. I don't expect you to respect me...or even like me. It's your choice.

Do you know of Thoreau? In his opinion, it is just fine to say one thing one day, and another the next. People will misunderstand you, but some of the greatest people ever, were misunderstood. I am not claiming to be a great person by no means, but I am showing, that I'm not always going to feel the same way...feelings change, opinions change, and sometimes this is set off by the smallest thing.

As I said before, you tend to get defensive, when someone comes into a thread you started, and seemingly points out bad characeristics about that person. Now I understand fully you weren't "taking a shot" at me with your first post, but the fact is- others were, and did..which instigated my response. Consider this: Quite a few take "shots" at your characteristics, and one is somewhere in the middle. Do you consider them to be friend or foe? Most likely, they SEEM as they are completely against you. If you weren't, I'm glad..but the fact remains, it came across that way to me.

If you have anything more to say to me, feel free to PM me, because this is completely unrelated to this thread, and I do not intend on creating a new thread just for this.

Good, at least we have two intellegent members on this board who can dicuss and settle matters.

As for the mod respect, you need to read my post to see what I said, not Snaker's quote, which has edited mine. Everyone should respect everyone on here, no matter position. I'm saying don't disrespect us specifically because we're moderators, such as provoking us and trying porpusely to get in trouble. My views are not the same as Snaker's, though we are friends.

Snaker

Almost everyone's views are different. Yes, Sean's and my opinions are different, but we are friends. Let us be an example of how you can think differently and still get along, a concept some people on these boards can't grasp. Let mbtimestwo and Mike's discussion also be an example, of how you can have a civil discussion.
