Yeah, here's another question that I haven't seen yet.
Everyone talks about how it doesn't matter how many tricks you can do, it's all about style. And I think there was a post on this a long time ago, but in a different form. So, here goes again.
What exactly IS style? I mean, everyone talks about it, but it seems to me everyone has a different idea of exactly what style is.
So, what does style mean to you?

No he is talking about Skating Style, I.E. "Man you pulled a nice 360 Flip but where was the style?" He wants opinions on what you think that style that I'm talking about is.
Personaly My opinion is if you can land your tricks clean, you have Style.

gotta agree with bakestencil. I rekon if you land your trick big and clean it has style.

yeh i guess if its a nice clean trick then it would be pretty "stylish". but i say personal STYLE is each individuals way of skateboarding and performing tricks like if u kick ur feet way out from the board when u kickflip that would be ur style. professional skateboarders have their own style which is rather obvious in most cases because they all want to skate in their own unique way. like the globe slogan "to each his own" - the extended globe version of that is 'to each skateboarder, his own style and way of skateboarding' Understand?

my version of style is someone who makes the tricks seem easy and dosent look like he/she is tryin and also wen you put that extra tweak in to a grab.

style is adding a little bit of your own flair to each trick you do it's basically making your tricks stand out from other peoples but because everyone wants to do this... everyone has a different style.... it can be from something as little as the way you push... to the way you tweak your flip shiftys

Its like if every skater drew a dog, no dog would be exactly the same. They would all have thier own little qwerks that would make each dog unique. Just like if every skater done a 360 flip, none of them would look the same, they would all have thier own qwerks (style).

Yeah having your own signature tweeks and things in your tricks would be part of your "Style" to I guess, like Koston for instand his flip tricks are really close to the ground while Reynold's are really high, it just differentiates one skater from the other.

something i think is stylish would be doing things really smooth, not real sketchy. kickflips that arent 2 inches off the ground. being more natural not forced, its kind of pleasing to the eye.

wat i think as stylish is 'no effort' style. Mark Appleyard and Stefan Janoski... oh my! And my style my friends tell me is 'effortless'.

i totally agree, but its not only that, its how u land, if u land ur knees too crouched, or u look too stiff. i think its how clean, effortless and how slow/ fast u flip a trick can affect ur style. o ya and where u catch ur board after a trick

Watch some Rodney Mullen vids, he has more style than any other skater out there (in my opinion). he makes it all look so easy...

Sorry but thats not style, thats just being better at a certain trick. Style is how we skate, peoples style depends on how they land a trick ie: landing smoothly and making it look like you didn't try rather than going mental when you land it.

no, if we just land a trick that everyone else is doing it isn't worth s***, but if we are pulling stuff outta the bag the no one else is hittin then thats when you start getting attention and with attention comes recognition and everyone looks at you as someone with your own defined style. For example, if your hanging with your friends and they are all hitting heel flips, and thats all your doin, then it isn't going to mean anything, but if you start bustin out 3 flips down a 15 set they are automatically think have some sort of kick ass style.
Someone correct me if they think im wrong.

haha i love this question, having "style" and "exactly" in the same sentence. this is the WORST question ever. style isnt exact, or common, or anything. its what you make of it, and its all yours baby.

Like Ryan Shecklenuts, he's really good; but he doesn't have a lot of style
