A hardflip is when your board rotates 180 degrees like a frontside pop shove-it, but flips like a kickflip. It might help to think of it as a frontside kickflip shove-it.
1. Compress for some pop and set u your feet like Rodney's.
2. It seems like it helps to keep your shoulders square with the board and ollie higher for this trick.
3. You pop the board a bit like a frontside pop shove-it, but flip it like a frontside kickflip. This is tricky, but keep trying.
4. Now you have to get your feet out of the way so the board will flip freely.
5. Put your feet in the catch position. See how the extra pop helps?
6. Flatten out and straighten the board, then extend your legs.
7. Center yourself.
8. Roll away.
9. Rodney did this switch for bonus points
WTF??? Isnt this a varial flip? Someone please tell me what a hardflip is? I got this step by step thing on this site and a couple others have this same tutorial thing.

That doesn't sound like a hardflip....If you know that vert trick "Rodeo" (Think Tony Hawk) It pretty much does that...The skateboard does a blackflip then while vertical does a 180..That make sense?..And that's why so many people land it with the board in their ramming into their crotch..Seriously because yeah..But I don't know how to do them

So it does a backflip and then a half flip? Could you tell me how to position your feet and all that good stuff?

no, the tip on transworld's site is right. A hardflip is a fs shove it kickflip, and a varial flip is a bs shove it kickflip. the thing is, the more you pop it, the more vertical it looks. anyway, try to get your hands on tony hawks trick tips 2 with eric koston. eric has some nice switch ones.
Shalashaska- a rodeo is a off-axis 540

You sure? And a f/s shove + kickflip is yeah a varial..And a rodeo off axis 540? I'm almost positive..You go up a vert and backflipish and spin while like upside down? Oh well....And The only hardlfips I've seen is where it pretty much gets vertical

A fs shove it with a kickflip is a varial flip,it's not something to argue about with me,it's a fact. Save yourself the embarassment and agree.
A hardflip is a fs flip, without moving with the board. The board flips vertically through your legs, the exact same rotation as a fs flip, except you don't move with it. Face the facts people.

Hmm..Ohh..And to the guy wanting to know foot position this might help.....
"For a hard flip, place your back foot on the tail and your front foot pointed somewhat forward near the heel edge. Hit the tail while sliding your front foot off of the board making it seem to come straight up at you. It will look like it is going to do a flip and land upside down, but with practice you will learn to make it perform a half-flip and land on its wheels. (You may want to try this without trying to land it the first couple of times.) At the same time, you will want to be rotating your body 90? in the frontside direction letting the board flip between your legs. When the board has finished rotating, rotate your body back to your normal stance and catch the board before it hits the ground. Land and ride away clean."

OMG I have never seen so many arrogant people about hardflips. This is funny. People think a FS shovit with a k flip is a varial flip?? HAHAHA A BS shovit with a kickflip is the varial flip.
Hardflip = FS shovit + kickflip
Varial Kickflip = BS shovit + kickflip
Varial HEELflip = FS shovit + heelflip
Frontside flip = FS 180 + kickflip (well hardflip cus the board spins too)
Zac- and BluntSkate.... haha to you two. Blunt... "FOR A FACT" WRONG!!!!! wow... some people's kids

Ha, it's ok Blunt, I forgive you, lol. Nah, I've seen some pretty heated arguments before about tricks. This kid almost picked a fight with me cus he was calling railstand primo when he wasn't moving. I corrected him and he got all bent out of shape.

just a minor correction -
Hardflip = FS shovit + kickflip but it spins up between ur legs
Varial Kickflip = BS shovit + kickflip
Varial HEELflip = FS shovit + heelflip
Frontside flip = FS 180 + kickflip
inward heelflip = bs shovit + heelflip
inward kickflip = fs shovit + kickflip not between ur legs

ok so ive been doin an inward kickflip. How do you get it to spin up between your legs?
Pariah
03-06-2004, 07:57 PM
sweet jebus no!!! a hardflip is a FS shov + k flip.... no between legs or anything, it doesn't matter. No such thing as an "inward kickflip". Hardflips just have different styles, it depends on how high u pop the FS shovit.

How would it be an inward kickflip if it's going outwards? Damn, some people are just so stupid.

03-08-2004, 04:05 AM

an "inward kickflip" is called a semi-flip its the exact same move as a hardflip exept it doesnt flip vertical, it just looks like a varial kickflip spinning the wrong way
Pariah
03-08-2004, 02:51 PM
umm.. a semi flip is an ollie nollie varial flip
aronsamma
03-08-2004, 03:33 PM
actually, a semi flip is a quarter flip late backfoot varial heelflip (which is kinda like what you said). i made a sequence of one in the gallery section
