Hey, cats. Every place I've read trick tips on kickflips or heelflips says to hang your foot off heelside or toeside, respectively. Well, that was totally not working for me (I did land some heelflips this way and one kickflip, but it was far from consistent) but today I was screwing around with different foot placement, and I found that with my foot centered on the board (sideways so that it's parrallel to the truck axle) and not hanging off either rail, I could get a very nice snappy flip that looked and felt clean. The trick is to aim your kick at the corner where the nose begins to rise.
Anyway, I've landed several kick and heelflips this way today, and wanted to post this in case it could help someone else. Hope it helps.

yeah, i get pretty close to perfectly centered, but when i try that, i just make the board go forward and not rotate.

when you do it this way, you kinda hafta tilt your foot as you slide and hit the flips diagonally
