where do all you guys get the wood for your ramps and your metal for your rails and stuff? whenever we have spring cleanup, everybody throws out tons and tons of things that the garbage truck usually wont take. like furnases, bath tubs, big pipes and stuff. so i might see a sheet of plywood or a rail and take it lol
i guess im a garbage theef :D oh well im a garbage theef with one hell of a lotta rails!!!
so where do you get your rampr materials?

Well, I used to get it from all of the houses being put up in my development, but the foundation for the last lot in the neighborhood had just been dug. Plus, my parents won't let me build anything else, because they think that our driveway will start to look like a hillbillies! My dad bought us a rail, though. That was cool.

ugh I had the perfect chance. these people were getting a new roof and none of the guys would pick up the spare wood or anything so they would just put it on the grass. I doubt they would've cared, but I didn't know what I would make with it.

you can buy 2x4's and stuff from the local home improvement store if you dont feel like stealing them, 2x4's are generally less than $3 (american) a peice. i just built myself a 2 ft. tall 16 ft long pyramid for virtually free. i already had some of the wood, but i drove around askin people that were tearing buildings or houses down and asked them for any scap plywood or 2x4's they had and i got alot from them. the plywood ended up costing me $15 but i wanted a good surface...

I usually use scrap 2x4's for my old ramps. I recently started buying new wood, thats in top condition. Spending a little in the beginning ensures a better output in the end! For my metal on my rail, I bought 2" square rigid steel from a Steel mill. I built the whole thing for under $30....solid as a rock. The only difference I'd make now, is adding rubber for traction.

my lucky ass has a step dad who works construction and when he tears down a roof there are some good peices left and when a roof has a size where the ply wood has to be cut i take the peices that are big enough to make a ramp. and if someone who works comstruction is buying alot and i mean ALOT of wood u can pay him a little and he gets it cheaper. and if he is buying 92 sheets of ply or somtin and 100 will be less $ per sheet he will maybe sell some to u so he can get 8 cents off each peice
