Hello all. I am quite puzzled, the trouble is i don't understand those pictures you see in skate mags. The ones that have a bout 6 photos per trick.
How much do the cameras that take these photos cost? And how do they work? They seem quite strange.

they cost 1 million pounds and are super cameras it actually takes a ladder just to get to the button which makes it work...
ok they are usually around about 700-1000 for a good one... one that takes like 8-9 frames per second... it's not exactly brain surgery how they work you press the button, the shutter opens and closes, the motor winds the film on, the shutter opens and closes again, the motor winds the film on and so on... until you release the button.... it's not worth it sequences are shit unless you have an extremly expensive light setup and an amazing skater doing cool tricks for you... i mean like flip in flip out stuff even then you'd be better off getting one truely amazing still..

^lol....nice
or you can do it the getto way and just take stills out of your video shots and past them together in photo shop or something like that.

ACTUALLY..... a FPS between 5 and 10 will do it. And sequences are worth it if you are being paid by a mag to shoot them. Very few lighting setups can keep up with a sequence so most pros don't even try. Quantums can sometimes manage dialled down to 1/16 of a second. Most photogs shoot them with available light.
Just save about $5000 and get a Nikon D2h + Nikon 10.5mm. That should get you going for sequences.

It would probably be easier and cheaper to use a camcorder then get still images using an editing progg. But thanks for helping me out
