Hey, how u all doin?
well i'll put these into steps 4 ya alls,
step 1:
Learn your tricks at an average speed
(never on the spot)
why? because if you learn them on the spot first you'll have to get some spare time to learn them at speed afta (just think!)
step 2:
always bend down to get maximum pop (and smack your tail down hard) in all tricks
why? this will get them higher and make them look more Rad
step 3:
always believe you can do it and think on how much you wish to learn it
step 4:
set your self tasks
final step:
get some good sleep makes your brain react quicker etc etc...
anyways hope this is of some help,
- Matty - Himself...

Good point on the moderate speed thing. I learned that by experience. I learned my kickflip not moving and I still have some trouble moving with them. But I learned my Varial Flip moving and I'm almost better at it than the kickflip. Nice tips. :D

i ahve a really good tip on how to make yourself a better skater, this works really good if you just started. skate with people better than you, you will learn faster! i have seen then rub off on tons of people, now they better than me cus i always skated with people that were at the same level or below my level.
skate with people alot better than you, it will rub off on you, trust me
is kind wierd how someone that has been skating for half the time as me is like 3 times as good as me.

Skating with better people does help, but hell, I've known that for a long time. Even skating with people just as good as you works...that's how I started. Now, I live in a neighborhood with no boarders, (I've lived here forever, I know just about everyone)....except for a 10 year old kid...who is actually good for his age.
I don't think it's skating with better people that 'rubs' off. I think it's more of the competition between two people. It makes you want to land that trick first, or just as good as they did. Which makes you try harder, and so on.
On the 'believe you can do it' note, there's a bit more to add to that. At least for me, it's not that I just say 'I can do it'. I go out there, and think like I am a pro. As in 'I'm gonna nail it perfect right now...'. I then no matter what trick, suck my legs up as far as possible (to get air, make sure I land). Sucking my legs up helps on every single trick I do....including shove its, which most people just pop a tiny bit, and let it go. I've recently started trying switch shove its, and switch 180's...and with switch shove its...sucking your legs up is a huge step.

ya another good way to learn if you have the matirial is what i did. we had a 3 set of stairs and plenty of poles and some ramps we used for our bikes. we took a pole and set it up on some bricks on the middle stair so the rail caqme a tiny bit below the top level so we could skate right on to a rail this way you can learn grinds and have better controll over the board. then you can make it crazy by like seting up boxes that you dont have to ollie on to grind. then when the ollie is mastered you can do more.

That could work...but I've seen to many friends find an easy way around ollieing onto stuff, and sticking with it. Sure, they can do it easily, but they never learn to ollie onto it, because they think 'why rock the boat? I'm grinding.....'.
