How long did it take you to learn to ollie? I've been trying for like 3 weeks and I'm like about to quit cuz I can't get it
So how long did it take you?

Everybody learns at different rates. If you're close, just keep trying. And if you're not, go get some advice in the Trick Tips section. Do a search. But whatever you do, don't quit!

Well, it took me less than 10-15 mins to Ollie, when i got my first board, i just got on it and ollied. it wasnt very high, but at least i did it. but you know, people learn at different speeds. just try putting one foot on the tail, and the other kinda in the middle of the board. Then pop the tail, and slide your other foot up towards the nose. I mean, thats how I personally do it. and it works great for me. i can ollie about 2 feet high. but i need some help on how to get it to go higher. Im thinkin' that it has somthing to do with speed. the more speed you have, im guessing the higher you will ollie.

U should never quit sk8ing cuz of a simple trick u should only quit if you borke a leg several times and you can barely walk but anyways like everybody said everyone has different learning rates cuz when i started sk8ing in the place i live there were no sk8ers and i couldn't be helped so it took me lke 3 weeks to learn cuz there was no one that helped me i had to learn from a sk8ing video like if that is gonna help you should go see some friend that sk8s and ask him/her to ollie infront of you several times and see the basis of an ollie or ask for tips

If you don't like skateboarding honestly, then it's your decision.
Don't spend all your time online studying ollie form, or pictures. You'll never learn something physical (such as skateboarding, playing guitar, etc), by studying it. You need to go and physically do it. It took me a couple weeks to get a nice ollie, but I was outside before it was light outside, practicing ollies. I'd then come home, and practice them until it got dark, then I'd throw a light on....and continue. Don't expect your ollie to just be handed, that's probably the hardest trick to get under your belt, since your ankles and legs don't move like you'd like them to.
Mrock's Diagnosis (lol): Get out there and practice hard man, before you know it, you'll have a great ollie. Also, I'm assuming your board is going vertical, since that's common. Try to put a bit more pressure on your nose.

Hey, it took me like 2 months to learn how to ollie because there was no one there to show me how to do it, well my tip is:
Step 1:
Crouch down placing your front foot in the middle of your board and your back foot on the back of your board
Step 2:
Push down (with your back foot still touching the tail), and start to drag your front foot up the board towards the nose (front trucks)
Step 3:
Land with knees bent and ride away clean

i learned to ollie in like 10 mins, but for like the billionth time, everyone has their OWN learning speed, my friend has been trying to ollie for like 2 months and i am trying to teach him but its really hard because he has a habit of putting his back foot down right away, if you can see that you do something wrong consisantly than work to change it!:p

it took me 3 days to do it on a wal-mart board i got for christmas. i just tried about 100 times for three nights. once i got it i worked on getting higher and then tried it while moving (it didnt snow over our christmas:mad: ). it was hard but i got it.:)

I remember when i first started and i just could NOT get it, then I was showing my older brother my skateboard and i attempted to ollie in front of him, it barely rose off the ground and i didn't land it but he still complimented me and gave me some words of encouragement and i ollied again and i gained a few inches and LANDED IT! SO anyway the moral of the story is to not go psycho and throw your board 80 feet in the air out of frustration, concentrate on the good things. I can ollie a foot now and the only problem i have is the tail moving behind me or infront of me, any tips?
