Ramprage

I wonder what's going to happen to skateboarding in 10 years. Will we still be riding wooden decks and urathane wheels? How do the think skateboarding will progress or regress as a sport? What kind of tricks will people be doing and will there be more competitions?
Let us know!

i think it wont really pick up untill the old pro's retire totally and let the sponsers find some of the new kids who rule at sk8in but aint bin discovered...then we might see kool stuff like 1080's and quadruple kickflips and totally insane tricks like that

This is a very interesting topic and therefore important.
I think skateboarding is getting alot more popular which isn't all a good thing, inc. Woodey - (sponsered skater) well he is in an English skate film called Hating live thinks that skateboarding is now being associated with makeup and all little kids wearing slipknot hoodeys which just stand around with their boards acting like it's a medal or something.
Well my opinion yes it's kinda getting worser than better, but companys are making plenty more profit etc,

i don't really think the sport of skateboarding can progress much further. sure...there will be new pros, new skate companies, and possibly new material for skateboards, but other than that i don't think skating really can progress. think about it, basically any trick you can even think of has already been done (with the exception of the 1080 and things like that.) maybe i'm wrong, but i personally don't feel skating will progress much further. not that that's a bad thing, but i just can't really see much more happening in the future.:D

i think that skateing has more places to go. think back to before there was a kick tail? or before the ollie was invented? people though that you couldnt do much more with a skateboard than what we know as "old school" then BOOM the ollie was invented and skateboardin' was brought to a whole new level. who knows hwat the next big break through mibht be. i could see rodney mullen freestyle comeing beck soon and taken places where it hasnt been before. like now i can do a ROLLING primo where im on the side of the board but only the wheels are on the ground so i can use it as a manuel!!

i think people like in 20 years, not 10, would and might have better abilities like ollieng stairs, like 25 sets!!! and even more ADVANCED tricks, like the stuff that rodnety is doing is AMAZING!!! but i am sure, people will over come his abilites and be doing stuff like in THPS2, haha, well take a look 20 years back, people were happy doing a kickflip, NOW people r kickfliping HUGE stairs! Now skateboarding must advacned, people r growing to stronger, like setting RECORDS, like highest ollie...
none of that HOVER BOARDS crap....

I think theyll make like really strong 2 and 3 plys... nuclear uranium trucks j/k.
I hope sk8ing becomes unpopular, becuz right now, theres way too many *****s. If sk8ing would become unpopular, they wouldnt think it was "cool" and would go back to nikes.

FreestylinFreak is the man! He was totally right, and infact gave me an idea. Do you think back in the days of old school, that an ollie was even THOUGHT OF?! People never dreamed of it. Therefore, there is no way we can even dream of what could be invented as far as tricks go. I think there'll be a load of scams, cheap skateboard parts, but not really any far technology advancements (remember, we are talking 10 years). I think they may make some stronger, lighter trucks, faster bearings perhaps, and thinner, stronger boards maybe...but that's as far as I think it'll go in 10 years.
Trick wise, I think that it'll be standard for even Am's, to be kickflip nosesliding down large handrails. I think that a beginner will no longer be expected to shove it and ollie. I think a 'beginner' will be expected to know a few flip tricks, spin tricks, and perhaps even nollie stuff. The definition of a pro might also change a little, therefore changing the definition of every other type of skateboarder.
I think the older tricks, such as mullen does, will come back a little bit, and be mixed with the newer style tricks.
I don't think skateboarding will become unpopular at all. Skateboarding is considered 'cool' right now, and hey, I am not complaining. If people want to skate, whether they are a *****, or not...they have a right to it. No one has a right to tell me if I can or can not attempt to look cool on my skateboard.
Overall, I think that it will stay pretty popular, technology won't change much in my mind, I just think the expectations for *everyone* will be raised greatly. I don't think I'll like pro skateboarding as much, after the great pro's retire, because they are the pro's I grew up idolizing, I don't think I can respect someone not much older than me, over someone such as Tony hawk.

I don't see hoverboards becoming popular in 10 years at all. Even if they started making them widely, they'd have a great deal of work to do, with safety regs, and such. That, and at least 5 years after they sell the first one, the price would be sky high. There's so many problems with widely producing them, let alone making a working over board, because of the air pressure it'd need to stay above the ground...for long periods of time. That, and if you have a steady airflow, and lean on one side, it won't make you turn, so there'd have to be a type of air-rudder...lots of problems...but mark my words- if they make them, I'll be up there on the list to get one! Back to the future 4 life!

You can allready by hoverboards if you wanna pay 40,000 bucks.......i found it somewere....not to good but it hoverd. In 5 years they'll have some metal boards or somthing.....super thin super stong.....meaning it whould be like a 10 ply wood but the size of a 2 ply wood meaning ollies whould be higher so you could do some flip tricks unthinkable now. By 10 years they show pros useing those boards doing 1080 tail graps and stuff. :D In 40 years or so some dude will make some like super nucaler power pogo stick or something stupid like that and say bye bye to skateboarding *****s :)

From what I've seen, hoverboards aren't a commercially popular thing right now, I still don't see it in 10 years.

Yes i've heard of them - Hud New York skateboards they sell in England and now they are making them with metal plys inbetween, they suck (there's nothing better than a pro board) - they perform best,

Aluminum boards aren't anything new.... they just never caught on...just not performance boards. I do agree with matty, nothing beats a pro WOOD board!

i think hoverboards would KICKASS!!!!!!!! that would be awesome to have skateoard that floated instead of trucks... yet you would still be able to do normal grinds without the thing hovering, like in that hoverboard game for PS2, or like in Back To The Future 2, those are cool stuff man...... im not a poseur , but manni think that a super pogo stick would be cool, you could lik bounce everywhere and like over cars and crap... but not within 10 years...this part that just said sounds like a topic on the old ramprage kinda........i wanna go skate but its raining....... that had nothing to do with anything..... but yeah i think that the wood boards will have like a coating on them that makes them *almost* snap proof.. and ya kno what would also be nice.. if in ten years they found a way to stop pressure crack from happening besides using risers!!!!

Just as they said earlier...materials will improve...tricks...not really...but in 3 decades my son could be doing kickflips to truckstands to impossible. You could also do variations on tricks today...like a casper impossible...or a 360 flip casperlarrial. Variations and Pioneers is all we need. Innovation.
