im not too worried about the whole riser pad thing. i dont break decks all that often and im also a skinny guy so there is not much weight bearing down on the deck. i like boards sitting low too so i think non risers look better. my only problem is it looks like my enjoi has pressure cracks already, but that might be the paint because the paint on my deck cracks and flakes off.

if you have pressure crakes will it break easier by the trucks?

I have risers. I find it a lot more smooth and your deck gets less pressure cracks. Which at the moment, doesn't really matter for me. I have pressure cracks halfway across the deck. Then I started using risers. My deck's gonna snap anyday now.

i don't think the brand matters much. it matters about as much as hardware, i guess.

I use Dook's Shock pads Best shit ive ever had.Only problem is after a while it acts like a Suction cup and sticks ur trucks to ur board. ( not a problem unless u use a lot of boards) I have been experiamenting with blankdeck.com Decks and i was switch my trucks from board to board and sometimes i Really REALLY had to work to get my trucks off
