ookay, i need help. i bought a bike a while ago from a buddy of mine, and he took the stickers off, so i only know what kind of bike it is from what he says. he also sais its a REALLY REALLY rare bike, so i decided to search it ont he net to see how rare it was. but its confusing so bare with me please:
he ORIGINALLY said it was a bmx, but today he said it was a norco spitfire, but i dont even think those exist. so im pretty sure its a bmx spitfire and its silver. i have the serial number, but it doesnt help unles i find a site that asks for it.

its very confusing, but what i need is a site that i could find this bike on. it COULDbe a powerlite biek because it is a VERY light bike. ANY help would be appreciated. thanks

Well, depending of how good a friend you have here, it could be a peice of junk that he took the stickers off. But if this is your bud, do a google search on the brand. See what shows up.

I will never understand why people bring up month only topics for some crap answer. But, on the subject... who really cares. If the bike rides well, giver.

There are several things to look for if you want to know what it is. Is it chrome? Has it got blue components rims brakes pedals grips pads hubs chain ? Araya rims , Sugino chain wheel, round or oval tubing, the spitfire turo had oval tubing. 22.2 seat post the turbo had a fiberglass post bad idea.

as long as your bike rides well dude, does it really matter what brand it is? And if he is a good bud of yours you should trust him!

Check the front tube on the side for any markings and the back . My PowerLite has the signature P on it 4 times, and the frame weighs 3.5 lbs. Also noticed no gyro brackets for being a racing bike. That is all for now I have.

Usually, on the back of the frame, of some bikes, there will be the logo, right where you put the back rim on on botht sites on where you screw the bolts on, might be a logo.

The old school Norco Spitfire does exist... I have one sitting in my shed. Mine was bought in 1983 for a staggering $450. It has dual pegs on the front and platforms on the back. It is wicked neon green and has an old school rotor for it's front brakes only. The rims are composite pergine masters and rumor has it bend back into shape when they are heated with boiling water. The handle bars are also old school Norco Pro Bar s and mine came with a GT laid back seat post. Now thats a true old school ride.
The Spitfires came in 2 variations - a spitfire which was the base model and the Spitfire Freestyle. They were never labled as "Spitfire" but mine did have the freestyle graphics and norco down the fork and on the the bottom tube.

I know they were hard to get in Canada, so i imagine they are rare in the states. Anyone knowing anyone who has any old Spitefire parts kiciking around, drop me a line.

I have a Norco Spitfire Turbo actually. It's red and all the fun trimmings are red. Mine actually says Norco Spitfire on it in a couple of places. It's engraved in the handlebar box for one. Still have the thing! I was the envy of the neighbourhood at the time. I won it and remember going to get it.

You are still the envy of the 'hood. Just like everyone is clamouring for the old 60's and 70's Schwin bikes today - in a few years you will see everyone wanting an old BMX from the 80's. Diamond Backs, Redlines, Monsgoose...Even neon green norcos!

Bust out the "choose life" shirt and keep it laid back.

Off to Whistler BC for Crankworx. Peace!

Milo
