Yay, I just formed a band with a few mates. I am rythm guitar and my friend is Lead, we have a Drummer, and A BAssisit (but he isnt very good). We are looking for a singer now. BUt we have had a couple of practices and one coming up this weekend. We play Razorlight- Golden Touch and a song we wrote. We are hopefully going to be working on some new stuff soon.
Peace out

I'm in a 80's Hardcore/Street Punk band called Subvert Citizens (we got our name from a Subhumans song). We have some very rough mp3's at our Myspace (in my signature).

Bands are are always fun. I play both drums (4 years) and electric (1 year) and Ive been in two bands. One was a street punk band, one a ska band and both of them went pretty far. We played at school talent shows and local shows. My advice is if your in a band always keep a cool head because bands can make you hate your friends.
If Im not feeling to lazy I'll upload some tracks link them up later.

Bass is cool. If your not sure between electric and bass take electric guitar lessons and you'll pick up how to play bass to. Thats what I did. Bass is key there always a ***** to find.

My band is doing pretty decent. We're playing with a coule decently popular west coast bands, the Secretions and the **** You Ups next month, and in April, we're probably gonna play with Action and Defiance.

Snaker how is competition is Ca? Id amigion there would be a lot of bands to play show with. It always seems like I play shows with the same bands over and over. It gets pretty lame.

Well, there are a lot, just not a lot of good ones. You have two or three good bands for any given genre, i.e. street punk, and then you have a lot of shitty ones. If you get yourself known as one of the good ones, though, whenever a big band rolls through, you get to play with them. For instance, our guitarist's old band played with the Havoc when they came through, just as we might play with Action and Defiance. If a band is good here, they usually succede, like for instance Career Soldiers, Pipedown, Thought Riot, etc.
P.S: We play with a lot of the same bands, too. You pick of friends as bands is all.

haha yea we had our first "practice" yesterday. we mainly just screwed around but its all good. ive got my work cut out for me tho, bein lead singer and lead guitar because our other guitarist just started playing.

Yeah playing lead and being lead singer is hard. I tried it once and and Id always hit one and be off on the other. Playing lead guitar and being back up vocals is wheres its at. Or being the drummer.

I gave your band a listen earlier. I only got to download one song because Im stuck with 56k for two days till comcast gets there ass over here to fix our cable. Anyway I liked the track that I heard (4 more years of hell). I noticed the whole black flag sound and I thought the guitar was catchy. The only suggestion I have is I think the guitar was a little to loud. Tweak it down a little notch so the voice is more clear. It could have just been the recording i dunno. But besides that nice band. When I get my cable connection back I'll check out the rest of your clicks.

Thanks. Black Flag is a large influence; L.A. hardcore and D.C. hardcore in general is. If you listened to it more than about three days ago, it was recorded with a camera. I finally got our studio recordings back, so that's whats there now. Thatks for the feedback.

Its on there, but one track doesn't want to seem to work, grr. We also got a gig in July, only performing from my patio to about 20 people at a BBQ but its a start and it'll be great fun. Also me and the other guitarist are having a blues jam at a villiage pub in August, thanks to his guitar teacher :)

So because his mate decides he wants to play an instruement that the band doesn't need means he's a nob head, no it means he wants to try something because i can say for definete the band will not last long and he wants to try something new.

I want to start a band as well i have like 4 friends who play guitar and none that play drums( i play bass). I know a couple of people who would sing. I have jammed with one of my friends and we wrote a dedent song considering that we had no drummer or vocals. Anywho...... im trying to convince one of my friends to play drummer which would be awsome because then i could have band where everybody live within a mile of each other.
