It depends.....If you want to do just slalom and freeride, the step-ins can be good, if you want to do jumps and parks....then you should use straps.

Because you're a beginner i would say get step ins because you will probably do a lot of unstrapping and strapping in on the bunny hills. I would also suggest getting flows.

Ya flows are good for beginners....but they're really heavy, so it's not good if you want to do jumps later.

i'd go with straps becuz they give more support (unless you have a high back on your steps), they r lighter, more durable, less expeinsive, and you can adjust them.... the main reason for steps is to save time... but y poay 75$ to save a few second?????

and if you aren't careful, you won't be saving time eventually, you will be wasting it, my friend HAD step ins and he got rid of them cuz up on the mountain they kept getting full of snow and ice and he couldn't get his foot to snap into it, eek it pissed me off waiting for him to chip away at the ice when i was safely strapped in for like 10 mins, meah

The best straps binding ever made are the Ride/Preston serie. If you're a beginner...you should try the Preston LX or ES....they're high quality bindings.

I think the best bindings would have to be the burton customs but thats my opinion... the Ride EX r probably second tho...

It still depends on your budget and on what use you'll make of that board. I don't know any "low quality" boards...but for some good quality, look for Options and Ride boards. For more advances boarders, I'd suggest Forum and K2, but Ride does some excellent quality pro boards too.
