well considering that vegas and after effects do completely different things i have no clue whyd you quit after effects for vegas?

After Effects-Leading in Motion Graphics
Vegas-Not leading in video editing
Motion graphics are "effects" basically. like slow mos the super shitty quality film burns.
vegas is like premiere only not as many capabilities.
if you want to do video editing i suggest learn avid express dv or premiere, or fcp if you have a mac. motion graphics go for after effects or discreet combustion. dont step down to vegas

You and Him both dont understand what we're (well some of us) are saying. We're saying that After Effects 6.5 or any After Effects Version is not at all something that is used to just throw clips into a time line and make certian parts of a song line up with a certian trick or certian landing of a trick. After Effects is used for Motion Graphics which is way far from the begining of editing. and saying windows movie make is shit is semi correct and semi wrong. its shit for exporting in wmv. it has potential if you dont have the money for an editing program. I believe that premiere pro is shit, if your on a wintel system deffintaly go with avid express or avid hd. That is an editing system an a half right there.I myself use final cut pro hd. Id deffintaly get avid for sure. if anyone has any questions about certian editing problems feel free to im me The yewnicorns is my aim name.

premiere pro does seem to complex and big and doesnt have many features, i decided to stop.. it got boring..

final cut pro hd any good? i mean in terms of is it basic tools or lots and good to use?

yes fcphd is wonderful just be willing to spill out over a grand in hardware. since your on a windows machine.

and stronghold, final cut pro hd is for mac computers not pcs. the cheapest mac is like 499 for a mini mac which are pieces of shit. emacs are like 799 and ibooks start at 999, powerbbooks start at 1499 imacs start at 1199 and powerpc g5s start at like 1899 or something. then final cut pro hd is 999 for the production suite.

I use Vegas +DVD, Acid loop 5.0, Sound forge 7.0, afx... I also have premire pro...but I perfer working with vegas. I don't see vegas as a step down from premire at all...and if you look at the vs. reviews vegas wins out over PP. Also alot of amature editors swicth to sony after trying it out. I would still like to make a vid using avid though and imagine I will give it a go when my vx2100 comes in. That being said I'm a skateboarder first and last. I'm not really interested in making vids that look like epic motion pictures...I make skate videos. more to the point I edit my videos. never understood why someone would want to just film or just edit....anyways...

All the major companys have free try it versions..just look around and see what works for your needs and capabilities.

I also use a window machine, but my HP workstation has teeth and is a sweet machine.

you're right its not really a "step down". considering that premiere pro crahses like crazy. avid on the other hand is so amazing for wintel systems. and the reason people just film or edit is because they cant skate from a very serious injury that killed their skating. me on the other hand i love filming and editing. but i do skate alot. and i hope you like youre 2100.

Yeah Cass that's a great point...If that ever happened to me (knock maple) I would have to be involved on some level for the love of skate.

and I see that the love of filming and editing is just as important.
