Default Trifecta

I'm sore and still recovering, but it went off again and well worth it.

Sunset on PCH, Friday evening on my drive up to meet Dxtr at Solvang.

Saturday morning the Solvang fog was low as we headed up to meet the crew.

1st stop,The Funnell or The Fly Trap which is more appropriate with all the flies swarming. Killer little ditch though.

Jeff working it real nice like.

Cenen flat out ripped this place a new one.

As did Tim.

Dxtr got his grinds in too.

Me likie too !

It started getting hot and we had more ground to cover, so off to Los Osos the 2nd stop.

Dean was already there and ripping it up.

The Bert Meister, Sick !

Jimmy Edging Out.

Air Tim.

Out of the Flow Area to ?

I'm really likin' this new Grosso deck.

3rd and final stop, Toyland. When we got there we found a whole contingent of Downhill Racers there for the final race of this series.

All shapes and sizes of Downhill Rockets.

Darth Vador High Speed Helmet.

This guy was shredding Crails on the extension.

As well as Melons over the gap.

Johnny got the race heats all lined up and that crew was off. (for a while)

Ah, empty park.

The newly surface extension, Adobe Style !

Which Jeff took right to.

The peanut gallery thwarted this Layback attempt.

Not this one though.

Maching thru the Pocket.

Cenen on the Shark, Hell Ya !

Senior Smith.

Another view of Jims lapper and yes, he pulled this real clean like.

Dxtr making Marble Dust.

Same with Cam.

I love this wall !

Then the party began.

Jimmy doing some patching.

Beer me !

Jeffe kicking out the jams.

Vasser got a bar set up.

All hell proceeded to bust loose.

Our Jungleland Tribe Leader, Chief Runnamuka.

Tim and I were dealt Black Eyes.

The Ghost Skater.

Yee Haw !

OOOOHHHH BABY !

The racers returned, handed out the trophies, cash and had some kind of cerimonial flour dusting.

Uh Oh, Sixes !

I passed out in my rig with some full on kick ass punk band playing, you could hear the slaughter echoing through the hills.

I awoke in the morning to find what looked like a serious train wreck. Tents all over with Richard and Lacey crashed on the ramp.

Millions of thanks go out to Tim, Johnny and the whole Toyland Crew. It's always the best of times and wouldn't miss these trips for anything.

TEAM VENOM REPRESENT!!!!!!!!!

i know them...the guy with the red and yellow striped boards was the first (recorded) guy to break 70mph, gravity powered, on a skateboard.

the other guy with "venom" on the bottom of his board pours his own bushings in his garage...and they're a TON better than any stuff you can buy in a skateshop

edit:
rbros, tactis, rayne...wow, TONS of nice boards there

sorry, got a little excited

I knew you would. The younger of the Rogers Brothers took the series.

One of the guys gave me this deck. (I was passing out new pool / park wheels to the downhillers)

Maybe you could help me with suggestions on trucks and wheels. I know that shit is spendy, so the best bang for the buck-saw.

gladly!
a board like that, you've got a lot of options. you can use randal trucks, bear grizzlies, or crail DH trucks...if you've got some indy 215's, you can use those too...just gotta have those a little more dialed in. wheels; i personally wouldn't go bigger than 70mm, but there are guys that run topmount speedboards like that with 75mm, and even bigger. bennett alligators are a good choice; abec11 flashbacks, grippens, or strikers (if you like a driftier ride); retro zigzags (70mm, like in the picture!); or earthwing makes some 66mm superballs; s9's race formula wheels (i personally don't like these...a lot of californians do though).
and have rock'n'ron hook you up with some bearings

I've got some Randalls, but want to go more high tech. I've also got some 215s but I think they turn sluggish and I'm not too into wedging them. What are the trucks on the orange ride here ?

By the way, I REALLY like those Rodgers boards.

I think I'll go with 70mm digs like these, and these are the trucks I was curious about.

Also, Ron keeps me well stocked with bearings. Thanks for the help brah.

the orange board has bear smokies...$250 for the trucks

if you're into hi-tech stuff like that, AAHTS makes radikal talons, for somewhere around $150 for the trucks, and they're made in the US. smokies are a product of canada

holeys are pretty good, from what i hear...i've never ridden them, but i do know they're really popular in the UK, and you'd want to put some replacement Randal bushings (or similar shape...indys maybe?) in to make them turn better
