So far idk what to think about that show at the moment, they've done 2 stupid things in my opinion so far.
1, what you just said, and 2, just watch this...

Now you may ask, what's so stupid about that?
It's that, he's sponsored by Carl's JR.
Nice way to help sponsor Carl's JR Rob.

To keep it going...

Dyrdek, Carl’s Jr. And Marketing Madness
By now you’ve seen the ‘viral video’ of Dyrdek and the burger chain’s Happy Star logo…but the marketing doesn’t end there. He’s also set to release a line of plastic cups that highlight his new feature film, line of toys (Wild Grinders!) and his new line of shoes.

Carl’s Jr has also thrown some cash into the new La Fayette Skate Park in Los Angeles. Which is set to open today complete with TV cameras and free burgers. It’s great that new parks are opening, but using skateboarding to sell fast food to kids is always hard to swallow.

Plan B now make shoes. they didnt have the originality to create designs specific to themselves with rider input, so instead they just ripped off other companies for their designs.

now i truly understand the definition of the term "fail"

When Element started making shoes, it made me dislike them more...
I now feel the same way about Plan B.

Thumbs Down for Poway Skatepark

In an effort to curb vandalism and misbehavior at its skatepark, city officials in Poway, California are looking into a system that would require skaters to register and submit thumb prints in order to enjoy themselves in the public space. What a great way to spend $50,000 worth of taxpayers hard earned cash!
“To our knowledge, no one has this,” Poway Community Services Director Robert Clark said. “If this works, you’ll see a lot of cities jumping on this fast.”
No, it won’t work and we certainly hope no other city is going to bother with treating its skate community like felons. If they do, well guess what? More skaters are going to opt for skating the streets just like it used to be. Mr. Clark needs a good ole’ impeachment hearing real quick. Seriously, who the hell is in charge of the City Council down there?

The Berrics On The Wall Street Journal?

Yes, at crazy as it may sound, The Wall Street Journal has posted a piece on The Battle at the Berrics. The article discusses the contest series and its format (Koston invented’ the game of SKATE?) as well as The Berrics as both a private skatepark and media business. It’s interesting that they seem to question why this is more popular to skate ‘purists’ than the XGames. Our favorite paragraph…
“This aggressive minimalism renders the Battle almost unwatchable to anyone who hasn’t spent time on a skateboard. But it’s addicting to skateboarding purists, who find a contest of smaller tricks more relatable than the skate competitions on television, where grisly falls and jumps as long as 75-feet get much of the attention.”
All we can say is that the world is changing when stories like this are hitting the world’s most recognized financial news source. I wonder how many WSJ readers will be watching the finals this weekend? More interesting than the stock market ups and downs this past few months..?

Aligned with Delkine
Dekline has bolstered its team roster with the recent addition of two well-known and talented skaters, Matt Bennett and Austin Stephens. Things are definitely shaping up for the brand.

It's not officially open, but everyone is offcially jumping the fence and shredding!!!

Dekline Welcomes The Butcher To The Team

Looks like one by one, Dekline is picking up more Toy Machine riders. Diego Bucchieri is the most recent Toy rider to migrate over to Dekline footwear.

Default iSkateboard iPhone App

Developed by the founder of Sneaker Pimps, Peter Fahey, comes the iSkateboard application which is a directory of more than 30,000 street skate spots, skate parks and skate shops worldwide.

The ultimate skateboard directory for skateboarders made by skateboarders - this isn’t another extreme sports app - this is the real deal. This application was made by a network of hardcore skaters from across the world. iSkateboard is an application created to help skaters find street skate spots, skateparks and skate shops. We have listed over 30,000 locations all across the world and are adding hundreds of listings each day.

With iSkateboard you can find a skate shop, street spot or skatepark that is near you with GPS functionality of up to 50 miles. iSkateboard gives you turn by turn car and foot directions from where you are to your skate spot, skatepark or skate shop. You also have the ability to override the GPS and manually search cities for spots.

iSkateboard features a streaming RSS news feed from all the major skate media featuring Thrasher Magazine, Skateboard Mag, Transworld, Fuel TV and more. With iSkateboard you can also contribute skate spots that you know and helping add to the community of people who want to find the dopest spots around.
Countries include: USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, China, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, New Zealand, Japan and many many more.

iSkateboard is currently in development for BlackBerry, G-Phone, Sidekick & Windows ME.

Cop it for $3.99 if you’re so inclined.

I think i would prolly wait until they work the bugs out of the software, but what spots would i not know about in my own area. It would be really good for if you took a vacation to the beach or something, and you could look up some spots really easy. Yea 3.99 is a lot for an app, but i would pay it, if it's all its cracked up to be.

ES Internship of a Lifetime Contest

All you aspiring photographers, filmers and writers should enter the eS Game of Skate Intership of a Lifetime Contest. The winner will go on tour with the eS team for their Game of Skate Tour. All the details you need are right here.

KING OF S.K.A.T.E 2009
On May 11th the second edition of the worldwide first online Game of S.K.A.T.E will start. Anybody can participate in this unique “Skateboard Show“. Every week one entrant of this “Round Table of Skateboarding” shows a trick you have to copy, film and upload to the king-of-skate.com platform within seven days.

915 claimants to the throne from more than 12 nations fought last year for the crown, 2,500 Euros and weekly skate-stuff packages. Herwig “Herbie” König assured the title in a haunting battle against Matthias Frei with an almost unbelievable trick bombardment.

In 2009 too, it’s all about skills, cash, prestige and of course a whole lotta fun. Once again Germany’s skateboard wunderkind Alex Mizurov will show you together with his top-class homeys the tricks you will have to copy. As a special appeal you have the chance to win some precious prizes and take them home with you, if the crowd judges your trick as the best. Just like last year the winner of the King of S.K.A.T.E competition will be determined in a decisive final. This year there is 2,500 Euros cash and worldwide media coverage at all King of S.K.A.T.E media partners. So join the competition!

For more infos and registration please visit King of S.K.A.T.E | Herwig "Herbie" König is the King of S.K.A.T.E!

éS Team Robbed At Gunpoint

Quote:
There's no way to describe it briefly, but it could happen to you:

So... Imagine you're in Lima, Peru minding your own business, doing a skate tour and trying to film some tricks in a seemingly unsketchy area your local international flow rider takes you to. You've got two filmers, a photographer, the web dude, five team riders and everyone's skating, filming, taking photos, doing their jobs and having a good time. Then some local kid who's walking home from school sees the action and sits down next to one of the filmers (Mike Manzoori) for a chat. And in the background, lurking in the shadows is some dude in a striped blue shirt.

Then, unsuspectingly, while no one else in the crew is watching, the striped shirt lurker creeps up on Manzoori and the kid, pulls a gun, shoves it in Manzoori's face and grabs the video camera. Like a cartoon...the kid gets up and runs so fast that one of his shoes falls off his foot and is left on the scene. Manzoori lays face down on the ground to get away from the gun. Just at this very moment, a black Toyota Yaris comes down the street toward the thief who's running away from Manzoori, to the car, brand-new free high def video camera in hand.

Our photographer, Oliver Barton, who didn't see the incident, is in the middle of the street, in between shooting sequences, putting his shirt back on (he had it off because it was quite hot out but was starting to get sunburned) with his camera at his feet as the black getaway car pulls next to him and stops.

Impeccably accidentally timed with Oliver's shirt over his head (I don't think the gunmen could have planned it better if they tried), the thief then grabs Oliver's camera off the ground on his way to the car. Not seeing the gun or what had happened to Manzoori, Oliver lunges for his camera and this went down:

http://esfootwear.com/content/posts/...bbery-edit.mov

Turn up the volume. Yes, you heard that correctly...a gunshot. As Oliver backs away from the first shot that was aimed in he and Justin's direction...which could have turned out very, very badly, filmer #2 (Scuba Steve, who shot the above clip) and the rest of us facing the front and driver's side of the car (from where I shot the above photo of Manzoori and the kid) scatter.

That's where and why the clip ends. Milliseconds after, a second shot was fired up into the air by the first gunman, while the driver had his gun pointed at all of us (Scuba, Bobby, Mike Anderson, myself) on the sidewalk, about 50 feet away, with Manderson being the closest to the line of fire as you can see in the right hand side of the clip.

As the first gunman got into the passenger seat, he too stretched his arm over the roof to aim his gun at us on the sidewalk and the car squealed away around the corner.

Elapsed time from start to finish: about five or six seconds. $13,000 in gear stolen; a few lost clips and sequences; two gunshots fired; a few skipped heartbeats, alarmed neighbors, no one hurt despite Manzoori and Oliver taking the brunt of it. Give 'em a hug next time you see them.

With the license plate number from the footage above, the local police were given their first real lead on two criminals they had already been pursuing for three month's time. They left the police station strapped with bulletproof vests, multiple semi-automatic weapons, pistols, lots of bullets and more. Sort of like something you'd see in a Rambo film actually. They found the car (which was also stolen) but not the gunmen yet. We'll keep you posted. Do us a favor and don't mess with guns and be safe when you're out skating.

The final demo of the éSpañol Central/South America tour is in 12 hours. We aren't canceling. It's good to be alive and skateboarding. See you there.

Dude that stuff is crazy, i was reading some skate mags on the way to a park today and i read like 3 articles about skaters getting mugged. Birdhouse and Emerica guys had their stuff jacked at knifepoint, i forget the other team, i think the locations were in California, Ohio, and Detriot the latter being no surprise...

Anyway that stuff with the es team is crazy, they are lucky those hardened criminals didn't kill them, but still 13 Grand jeez way to put a damper on a trip.

Also am I understanding this right, Benny got pro status in large part due to his performance in BATB? That's seems a little strange, but cheers to him nonetheless!

Two Skateboarders Attacked in Portland, Oregon

Late Friday night in Portland, Oregon, skateboarders Clay Hunt and Taylor Appelo (Devin Appelo’s brother) were attacked by four men as they waited at a Max stop on their way home. Both were attacked for no reason and beaten senselessly with their own skateboards. The four attackers bragged about being drunk and told Clay and Taylor “That they were in the wrong place at the wrong time!”
Taylor Appelo was beaten so badly that his jaw had been broken in three different spots and wired shut. He also suffered a broken rib and the loss of five of his teeth.
Sadly, Taylor is 20 years old and doesn’t have medical insurance. A charity fund for Taylor Appelo will soon be in place, more information will be available shortly. To learn more about this story, click here. From everyone at SKATEDAILY.net, speedy recovery guys. Hopefully the attackers will be found and justice will be served!

Also...new ad for ipath featuring none other than Richie Jackson.
Check it out.

EDIT: Oh my God that last trick was sweet.
His Style = no one else has.
