Ten-Year-Old Skateboarder Assaulted by Police Officer
Although this incident took place nearly one year go, it is one that certainly shouldn’t go unnoticed or without penalty. The Sun Sentinel reports that on April 6th of 2008 a ten-year-old boy from Davie, Florida was merely skating outside his home (where perhaps on the city’s books it wasn’t permitted) and was assaulted by a police officer. The kid was apparently picked up and slammed against the police officer’s vehicle in front of witnesses including the young skater’s father.

Eleven months later, officer David Rodriguez received a two-day suspension and the attendance of anger management classes. Really? Where’s the justice in that?
It’s incomprehensible that a figure of authority can so blatantly abuse the system and infringe on civil rights and basically walk away scot-free.



KC ripper and good homie Bryan Barrow passed away on Saturday March
14th. An inspiration to anyone who met him, Bryan was the biggest
skate rat with the biggest heart. Barrow left only good memories with
anyone who was lucky enough to know him. Truly missed. Come celebrate
the life of Bryan Barrow with all his friends and family at his
memorial skate jam BBQ on Sunday, March 29th at the Overland Park

Over the news wire it’s been announced that Ryan Sheckler has inked a deal with Wicked Fashions, Inc. to launch his “RS by Sheckler” clothing line just in time for 2009’s Back-to-School season.

Chad Shetler Becomes 2009’s Ultimate Boarder
The second annual Ultimate Boarder competition revealed another skater on top of the podium and $30,000 richer this afternoon. Lost’s very own TM, Chad Shetler won the overall title with the best cumulative results in skating, surfing and snowboarding. Omar Hassan took the top spot in the skateboarding leg of the competition (mini ramp) and Team Hosoi won overall for their high placings in all three disciplines.


Etnies Flows the Homeless of LA
Over the last decade, etnies has flowed more than 25,000 pairs of shoes to homeless people living in poverty in Los Angeles. The current tough economic times have led to the rise of homeless people in Los Angeles, and yesterday Pierre Andre and a crew from etnies hung out with the city’s Skid Row residents. etnies teamed up with the Los Angeles Mission to break through some of the doom and gloom, and provide more than 2,000 men, women and kids with a hot meal and a brand new pair of etnies shoes.

Red Bull Manny Mania 2009
The third year of Red Bull Manny Mania descends upon the streets of New York City early this summer on Sunday, June 7th. Manhattan will be the place to be that weekend, with 5boro’s legendary Back to the Banks contest and Red Bull Manny Mania taking place Saturday and Sunday, respectively, punctuated with video premieres, parties and the gathering of skaters from around the country.

The Red Bull Manny Mania invite-only Pro is just the beginning. All summer long across 15 stops and all parts of the country, the Red Bull Manny Mania Am Series gives up-and-comers a chance to show off their best manual combos for a chance to win prizes, and the best will move on to compete online for claim of the best manual amateur across the USA. 20 Years and Still Rolling
It’s crazy to think that Foundation Skateboards has been with us for over two decades. Over the years, Foundation has brought us such skate classics as Tentacles of Destruction, Rolling Thunder, Duty For The Future, Nervous Breakdown, and That’s Life, just to name a few. Danny Way Breaks World Speed Record at 74mph
A few months ago Danny Way set out to achieve another goal for himself…to break the world speed record while standing upon a skateboard. Armed with an important session of wind tunnel training, a customized skateboard and an able technical team lead by Paul “Professor” Schmitt, Danny took his custom kit out to California’s Mojave desert to get it done. Watch the footage of what went down leading up to Danny’s determination to hold on to a new record at 74mph. Speed wobbles not included.

ESPN and Disney to Present X Games 3D the Movie

First Sports-Based Feature Film in Digital 3D Highlights

ESPN and Disney will release the first sports-themed 3D film this summer with a special, limited one-week theatrical run starting August 21. ESPN Films will produce and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will distribute X Games 3D the Movie nationwide into digital 3D theaters around the country. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Steve Lawrence (Down the Barrel), the film will use groundbreaking digital 3D techniques to immerse sports fans into the world of action sports and its top stars. Iconic action sports personalities chronicled in the film are: Shaun White, Travis Pastrana, Danny Way, Ricky Carmichael and Bob Burnquist.

Mark Zoradi, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group, said, “There is absolutely no sporting event better suited for the Digital 3D medium than X Games. ESPN continues to break boundaries by using digital 3D to put sports fans literally in the center of the action: preparing to launch down the big air ramp with Danny Way, racing downhill on Shaun White’s snowboard and flying through the air in Travis Pastrana’s Rally car. And Disney is proud to add X Games 3D the Movie to its robust, industry-leading slate of 17 other upcoming Disney Digital 3D£ releases.”

The full-length feature film will capture the drama and spectacle that play out every year at the X Games events and will also tell the stories of the featured athletes showing the sacrifices they make in pursuit of glory and progressing their sport on the industry’s biggest stage.

“I’m excited to be involved with ESPN and Disney on this project,” said Shaun White, X Games and Olympic gold medalist. “I think the style of filming will bring something new to viewers.”

Toy Machine riders Matt Bennett, Austin Stephens, and Diego Bucchieri are now walking around with Deklines.

The creative minds at Volcom have recently launched their own online video portal as StoneYour.tvwhere web nerds and skate jocks can watch original programming.

The Element Footwear team is in the process of making their first full length video, titled Sole.
It's scheduled to drop this fall and will have full parts from Mike Vallely, Levi Brown, Chad Tim Tim, and Darrell Stanton.
