End of the Year Team Rider Change Ups
Rune Glifberg and Etnies have parted ways following a loyal and lengthy relationship. Lincoln Udea has found a new home close to his childhood hero with Hosoi Skates. A perfect fit! Both Jereme Rogers and Guru Khalsa are no longer riding for DVS. No word yet as to which brand of shoes they will lace up in the weeks and months to come. Cliche Welcomes Flo Mirtain If you missed him in Issue #59 of the Skateboard Mag or in the DVS Bailout video, now is your chance to see Flo Mirtain, because he’s just been added to Cliche am division. Head on over to the Cliche site and peep a video of Flo edited by French Fred. Upcoming Events. Tommy Guerrero’s Get Rad Six with Marc & The Casuals Hemlock Tavern 8:30pm San Francisco, CA Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 Randy Laybourne’s 20X20 Swiv Tackle Circus, 6-10 pm Oceanside, CA January 17th, 2008

Gatorade Welcomes Chaz Ortiz to the Team
CHICAGO, January 5, 2009 – The Gatorade Company, a division of PepsiCo, announced today the addition of 14-year-old skateboarder Chaz Ortiz to its elite team roster. This is Ortiz’s first beverage sponsorship deal. “The support from Gatorade means a lot to me and I think it’s important for skateboarding too,” said Ortiz. “It’s a sweaty sport, and if you want to stay out there and keep skating, you have to be hydrated so it just makes sense for Gatorade to support skaters.” Ortiz is one of the top young up-and-comers and took home several big wins in 2008, including the overall 2008 Dew Tour title in Skate Park, edging out three-time reigning champ Ryan Sheckler. In addition to working with action sports athletes like Ortiz, snowboarder Ellery Hollingsworth, and BMX rider Nigel Sylvester, Gatorade also has plans to support professional and amateur action sports events in 2009 and will do more with parks and in films as well. “We’re excited to take our presence in action sports to the next level,” said Kenny Mitchell, action sports team manager with Gatorade. “Many skaters are using our products already because they know Gatorade is what you reach for when you want to stay hydrated and fueled so you can session longer. We think tapping into this interest is a very authentic move for us as a brand.” *from skateboarding.com and from theskateboardmag.com about it: Looks like Gatorade is going to give Red Bull, Monster and Mountain Dew a run for their money. Gatorade announced today the addition of Chaz Ortiz to their action sports team. Rumor has it that Chaz has signed a multi year contract with a six figure salary, not bad for a 14 year old kid. Looks like Chaz won’t need to hit up his parents for allowance anymore. With plans to sponsor skate events in 09 and add more riders to their team, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more from Gatorade in the future.

Yeah bucksaw you we're right.
I just didn't post it yesterday. Here it is: The brand also signed smaller deals with snowboarder Ellery Hollingsworth, a 17-year-old from Darien, Conn., and BMX star Nigel Sylvester, an 18-year-old from Queens, N.Y. The athletes will be featured in Gatorade’s action sports campaigns, which are being planned. Terms of those deals were not available. EDIT: Other news... If you thought $3,000 dollars was way too much for a bag or purse, guess how much Louis Vuitton is asking for theirlimited edition skateboard? How about 8 G’s! We think it’s time for Louis Vuitton to concentrate on handbags and leave skateboarding alone.

In news that has surprised by many including himself, Ryan Sheckler has been released from his commitments to represent Volcom. After several months on the flowgram, Theotis Beasley has been officially welcomed to the fully sponsored Nike SB roster. Andrew Allen has stepped up to the pro ranks on Anti- Hero, but not without a series of good old fashioned pep talks with his elder teammate Frank Gerwer.

Vegas inspired in more ways that one, Braydon Szafranski’s new shoe is on video display over at Emerica’s site. There’s some new skate footage is trickled in too, so make sure you give it a watch.
Speaking Braydon’s shoe, are you going to his shoe release party? Open up our new issue (February), and maybe we’ll see you there.. ![]() & Anti-Hero has a new pro: Andrew Allen

Lutzka Puts His Signature on the Highway
The popularity of skateboarding these days is no doubt beginning to get crazy, skateboarders now have the opportunity to grab sponsors that were rarely attainable. Perhaps a true example of this is Greg Lutzka. Head over to his Myspace page and check out his soon-to-be-released signature Toyota Matrix car. No official word yet on how many cars will be made or where you can purchase one, but at age 23, Greg’s definitely not doing bad for himself! It’s wild to realize that a professional skateboarder hooked up a signature car deal before Michael Jordan or Lebron James. Neversoft Bails On Tony Hawk From the very beginning of the Tony Hawk video game boom, Neversoft was the developer behind the Birdman’s success. Now the game producers have decided to completely drop the series. We’re guessing it was a combination of poor Hawk game sales and the fact that they are now riding the massive Guitar Hero wave. One less paycheck for Tony… and Upcoming Events JFA (Skate Rock Pioneers) Friday, January 16th Piratical Warehouse Santa Ana, CA with The Outsiders, Joe’s Garage, CCD, Media Blitz Saturday, January 17th Punk Rock Bowling After Party The Bunkhouse Las Vegas, NV with Guilty by Association, Pressure Point Wednesday, January 21st Crossroads Retail Show Hosted by Black Box Distribution Carlsbad, CA Thursday, January 22nd Grind For Life High Ollie Challenge #3 San Diego Convention Center Upper Level Thursday, January 22nd The Skateboard Mag’s YBAm & Damn Am Awards Presented by Nike SB San Diego Convention Center Upper Level Ballroom - 20D 6pm - IASC hosts the Pre-Damn Am Awards Cocktail Party 7pm - Awards Presentation Saturday, January 31st Vert Attack III Bryggeriet Skatepark Malmö, Sweden

According to The Skateboard Mag and Damn Am Awards, Nick Trapasso is the years best am.
Nyjah Huston is no longer part of Element. (shocker) Either is Colt Cannon, Tosh Townend, and Jake Rupp. Rodrigo Peterson is part of Organika skateboards. Nate Broussard is now on Roger Skateboards. Dylan Reider is now on Gravis. Flip Skateboards is a part of NHS distribution. One of those "of course he would" moments... Ryan Sheckler will become part of the big screen and will be starring in an upcoming movie called Tooth Fairy also starring Dwayne "the rock" Johnson, Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews, and Billy Crystal. The film is scheduled to release in November. Also, check out an awesome article about Sean Malto and how the Midwest is starting to rise up in the skate industry here.

Colt Cannon hasn't been on element in ages. He's been floating for a while now. Nyjah? Thats a good move on his behalf, he'll get icekd up legit in 5 seconds. Tosh? He was ****ed since his move from Emerica to Element. Dumbest shit ever.
Andlol@sheckler. I still say hes garbage. And I still have to hate on Trappasso for moving to converse. Having a chukka colorway on vans means you're going someplace. What a douche.

Converse Welcomes Rune Glifberg to the Team
With Rune’s recent departure from the Etnies team, it seems like he’s found himself a new home over at Converse. With Anthony Papparlardo, Ethan Fowler, Sammy Baca, Nick Trapasso and Raymond Molinar things are really looking solid over at Converse.
