for a school project i need to make a biography of alan gelfand i can find loadsa info but i need to know about the erlier years rather than just when he invented the ollie. any ideas where i can get any info?

He didn't just air out of the pool. You're thinking of Tony Alva.
What Alan Gelfand did was manage to push airing out of the pool even farther by adding a little extra at the end which came to be known as the "Ollie" or "Pop Ollie" or "Ollie Air".
Then later on Mullen took that and figured out a way to do it on flat ground which is what we know of as the Ollie today.

Yeah , dude , I'm reading Rodney Mullen's Autobiography right now . He invented the flatland ollie and a ton of other cool tricks .

I saw Gelfand skate in the late 70's when he was out here from Florida. He was the only guy at that time doing ollies and they were amazing. He won the Del Mar Pro his first visit to California beating the legends of that time. Dude had an awesome style.
