    Default Safety First. No joking.

    How To BailSafety, Please.

    safe·ty
    n. pl. safe·ties
The condition of being safe; freedom from danger, risk, or injury.

I cannot stress safety enough. Skateboarding is Danger.
I am writing this thread because lately many injuries have taken place. A local skater in my town broke his two front teeth from skating, just a simple pebble in the way. Andrewi (from ramprage) is a skater who has nearly lost it all skating.

    Hydration:
Water:The most important fluid in the world. Water keeps you hydrated, and helps your body temperature. Water is under-rated. Stay Away from Sugar, AT ALL COSTS. When the body is active, 1 cup of water should be consumed every 15 minutes.

Sports/Energy Drinks: Gatorade, Powerade, Red Bull, etc. I would suggest NOT to use this after a small time skating/whatever. Energy drinks should only be consumed when:water runs out, or Blood Sugar Level is low, etc.

How do I know If I am hydrated?
Look at your hands. Are they red? Do small White Specks appear? If so, you may be dehydrated.
Look straight ahead for 15 seconds. Do you see clear?- If small blotchy spots come up, you may be dehydrated.
    Pads!
    1 phrase- PRO-TEC
Pro-Tec is a wonderful protective pad provider.
Helmets- WEAR THEM! Every clip of Lemonade Man i have ever seen, he has worn a helmet, I am proud of him. Who cares if you look like a n00b. Throw some stickers on them, or put a wig on over it, if you are afraid of looking different. Your body revolves around your brain, lets leave it that way. Please, Please, Please---Wear a helmet.
Wrist-Guards- Yes, they may HELP prevent spraining your wrists, but not completely. Besides, they look pretty cool.
Elbow/Knee Pads- Stiff Joints= Sucky Skating. Lets face it, weve all got a boo-boo on our knee because we fell on the pavement. Now, lets get serious. Ive scarred my knees for life because i slid multiple feet on rough concrete.

Who cares if you look bad? You will look worse if you rip your face up for life.

Relax:Take it slow. Skating is all in your head.
    1% body 99% mind.
There's no reason to get stressed, just enjoy skating.
An easy way to remove stress is to: Skate with friends, take a break, Sprint as hard as you can down the street, whip out da moves with a boxing bag.

    Play It Safe
Don't head out for a 10 set the day you learn to ollie, wait for it to come.

Safe Equipment- Sure, most of us have ghetto ramps (wood and a concrete block for a kicker, etc.) but dont be skating a gravel hill with hard wheels or whatever. Make sure the equipment will not snap easily, and make sure it is stable.

    How To Bail
    1. Shoulder First. If you MUST bail a different way, always keep your head off the ground.
    2. Keep from bending wrists. Try not to sprain your wrist.
    3. Land on your fleshy skin.
    4. Dont stiffen your body.

    To Treat Flesh Wounds
CLEAN!- Infected wounds spread bacteria easily, for your sake, and for others, clean the wound. Clean SLOWLY with: Water and Antibiotics.
Don't get right back to skating, let it heal. Relax.
Bloody Noses: Alright, everybody says "Lean backwards, and let the blood drip back"---WELL DON'T!!! Lean slightly forward, and always keep and handy towel/rag handy. Breathe Deeply, let the blood run, if this continues, contact medical attention immediately (CMAI). After a bloody nose, you may feel light headed, if so, put your head between your knees and lean forward. You need the blood to flow back into your brain.

    Heat Stroke or Heat Exhaustion
    Remember: THEY ARE DIFFERENT THINGS!
The most important treatment and prevention is to GET THEM HYDRATED!

(I took these notes in school)

    HEAT STROKE:
    Symptoms:
*Body Temperature 102 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
    *Red and Hot Skin
    *Victim has stopped Sweating
    *Confusion or Unconsciousness
    *In some serious cases: Fainting
    *Convulsion
    *Vomitting

    Treatment:
*Move them to a Cool and Shaded Space!!! Recommendations: Indoors, Creek, Under a tree
    *Most Importantly: WATER!
*Contact Medical Attention IMMEDIATELY!---Note: In most cases, this is not important in HEAT EXHAUSTION (they are much different)
*Check Victim's Temperature every 10 minutes
*Spray them GENTLY with cold hose water, or cool with a wet sponge
    Prevention:
    *Keep Cool
    *Stay Hydrated at all costs
    *Loose Fit Clothing- COTTON!

    HEAT EXHAUSTION:
    Symptoms:
*High Body temperature; BUT BELOW 102 degrees Fahrenheit
    *Pale Skin
*Lots and Lots of Sweating Note: Remember, in Heat Stroke, sweating stops
    *Victim is Very Weak
*Vommiting and Nausea- Victim is more likely to have a Stomach Ache
    *Sever Head Pain/Head Ache
*Muscle Cramps- a.k.a. Stiffening of the Body

    Treatment:
*Move Them to a cool place, Similar places like Heat Stroke
*Get Victim to Lie Down or Recline as much as possible
*Elevate the feet 8-12 Inches, when laying
    *Cool Gently with Wet Cloth
*Hydrate them with a Sports Drink (WITHOUT CAFFEINE) or WATER!!!
    *Massage Cramps in their Muscles
*Medical Attention may be required if victim is not helped correctly, or if treatment and help is not given fast enough!

    Prevention:
*Always keep hydrated at all costs
*Know the symptoms and treatment; and always be aware of what Can, and Cannot Be Done!

EDIT: I couldnt edit my first post, so im just posting this NEW information!

Do they find our relationship weird?
Frosty Buns, I poured you some OJ and poured you some cereal.

But don't complain! Those Frosted Flakes are unhealthy, you deserve to eat your fat-free delicious Prune Granola.

I dont see you driving your minivan with 200 little kids on the way home, driving thirty minutes to get them a damn pineapple!

    I take it back.

The minivan was a wonderful anniversary present.
