Parts of the skateboard: skateboard bearings Skateboard Bearings (illustration of the skateboard bearings case) In contrast to the In-Liners, who skate large stretches, skateboard bearings cases of skateboarders play a subordinate role. They should by all means be durable and of good quality. As a rule, a bearing case with a normal size of 608 may be used. The best ones are bearing cases, which are closed on both sides (608 ZZ). As such, they are dustproof and accordingly maintenance free. By the way, here you should apply the rule: the less you mess with the bearings, the longer they last. In no case should you oil or grease a ZZ bearing! The cheapest bearings come from Taiwan (approx. 1.30 Euro per piece), but here the quality is not always up to par. In the upper end of the price and quality segment you find bearings from the SKF company (in the case of bearings the same amount of worth is placed on the brand name as with other skateboard articles as well). Quite often bearings are in packaged units of 8 pieces. This means you have to buy at least 8 bearings at one time. Between the bearings (no matter which wheels!) comes a spacer, whose job is to hinder that the bearings get squashed, if the axle mother is pushed in. The spacer is not a must, however recommendable.
